Welcome! The Residential College Academic Services serve as advisors for all RC students, LSA students taking RC majors, and LSA students interested in transferring into the RC.
The RC Advisors are faculty and staff members in the RC and will help you sort out both RC and LSA requirements as well as any other problems or concerns you have regarding your academic progress or adjustment to college.
Advisors & Appointments
General Advising: This is the most common type of advising appointment. Our RC General Advisors are Charlie, Briana, Becca, Darcy, Laura, and Candice. They advise RC students on just about everything! Examples include: finalizing or changing class schedules, deciding on a major or course of study, figuring out an academic plan, addressing academic concerns, and more.
Living-learning Advising: Our Living-learning Advisor is Becca Pickus, an RC alumna (STP and Creative Writing) who received her MSW from the University of Michigan School of Social Work, where she focused on trauma, grief, and loss. As our Living-learning Advisor, Becca works to address common challenges for incoming first-year students such as transitioning to college, personal or family concerns, and mental health support.
RC Major Advising: RC and LSA students interested in pursuing one of the four RC majors should contact the designated advisor for the program: Arts & Ideas in the Humanities, Creative Writing, Drama, and Social Theory & Practice (STP).
RC Minor Advising: RC and LSA students interested in pursuing one of the RC minors should contact the designated advisor for the program: Crime & Justice, Drama: Text-to-Performance, Urban Studies, and Science, Technology, and Society (STS).
Transferring Out: To request to be removed from the RC, please fill out this form. Briana Lloyd, the RC Academic Services Coordinator, will process your request and reach out to schedule an appointment with you if needed.
Advising appointments are available Monday through Friday during the academic year. Use the link below or contact any of the advisors about their advising specialties!
RC students are not assigned to a specific advisor. You should feel free to schedule appointments with one specific advisor if you would prefer; however, other advisors are ready and willing to meet with you if your schedules are more compatible.
All of our advisors are experienced, knowledgeable, and happy to meet with any RC student throughout the school year!
