Internship Opportunities

Many RC students elect internships as a way to gain valuable experience in research, career exploration, and community engagement. The internship experience can vary widely, so it's important to do plenty of research during your search process.

Where can you find an internship?

  • Many RC Faculty members sponsor independent study internships! RC Students can elect internships in the Visual Arts, Social Sciences, and other disciplines. Talk with your professor today to learn about opportunities available for deeper engagement and learning.
  • The Spanish Language Internship Program (SLIP) connects Spanish-speaking students with partnered community-based organizations and schools to provide unique service-learning opportunities with the Latino Community.
  • Semester in Detroit students choose internships from an array of Detroit community and cultural organizations (in November) through a interactive process guided primarily by the student’s interests and the community’s agenda. Successful student applicants play an active role in this process and choose from among substantive community projects where they spend 16 hours per week throughout the semester.
  • The LSA Opportunity Hub can give you information on international and domestic internships as well as information on funding.

Does the RC offer any funding for internships?

Yes! If you have applied for and been offered an unpaid or low-paying internship, you may be eligible for scholarship funds through the RC. Each year, the RC allocates funds to help students cover travel, living, or other expenses during their internships and research. See this page for more information about scholarship funding.
