IS 501: Introduction to Communications in Academia 

This course focuses on the academic skills that scholars, researchers, faculty, and other academic professionals in all disciplines need to succeed in the academic community. Key course components include: 

  1. Research writing 
  2. Poster and conference presentations
  3. Leading and participating in formal discussions
  4. Informal interactions in the academic community  
  5. Extensive individualized instructor feedback will help participants at all levels of English proficiency improve their accuracy, fluency, and delivery style in both professional and social settings.

There is a course fee for participation. Participants are encouraged to seek partial or full funding for the course fee from their respective department or sponsor.

Dates: September 14 -November 16 (10 sessions)

Location: 955 Weiser Hall

Course Fee: $1,200*

*Note: There is a required $1200 course fee for all participants. Some departments/sponsors cover all or part of this fee. Check with your administrator. ELI is unable to provide discounts or fee waivers. Auditors or visitors are not permitted.
