Due to visa delays and social distancing requirements resulting from the continuing COVID-19 crisis, the English Language Institute’s Summer 2021 language programs will be delivered online.
The English Language Institute, a leader in online education, has been offering online courses to U-M graduate students for over five years. We now bring this expertise to our summer intensive programs, which deliver an engaging, rigorous online experience that will prepare you to begin your degree program at the University of Michigan this fall, no matter where in the world you are.
ELI summer programs are designed for students who are advanced second-language speakers of English and who have been admitted to a degree program at the University of Michigan or another college or university in the United States.
In ELI Summer Programs, you will learn and practice the language skills you need to communicate effectively in diverse academic environments. You will also learn about the culture of the US university environment so that you can easily transition into your degree program. You will learn about the US university system, instructor expectations, and student responsibilities.
Small class size and student-teacher conferences provide you with extensive individual attention. A certificate of completion is awarded to participants who fulfill all program requirements.
Please note: Online programs do not qualify for F-1 visa study.
