The UM Math Department recently hosted MMATHS (Math Majors of America Tournament for High Schools), a competition which simultaneously took place at Yale, Columbia, University of Virginia, and University of Florida. The event consisted of two individual and two team rounds with over 90 participating students and 15 undergraduate volunteers. For the Mathathon team round, the ICAE (Indus Center for Academic Excellence) Olympians tied for first in the nation, and our second and third place teams from Greenhills (Gryphons) and Huron High School (Pi-Bond) placed in the top 15 nationally. The first place winner of the individual round was Freddie Zhao and the runner-up was Ankan Bhattacharya, both from ICAE.
