Welcome to the University of Michigan Mathematics Graduate programs admissions webpage.

The Michigan Mathematics Department has consistently been ranked as one of the top ten Mathematics Departments in the country. For the 2021-2022 academic year, we have 151 Mathematics graduate students, of whom 42 are women. Approximately 91% of graduate students are enrolled in the Ph.D. program. All of these students received support from the Department in the form of Graduate Student Instructorships, Graduate Student Research Assistantships, and fellowships.

The Michigan Mathematics Department offers Ph.D. programs in:

From 2001 - 2005, our AIM Ph.D. program had a completion rate of 71%. From 2006 - 2010, our AIM Ph.D. program had a completion rate of 82%. From 2011 - 2015, our AIM Ph.D. program has 62% completion and 15% active students.The median time to degree for AIM Ph.D. students is 5.7 years.

From 2001 - 2005, our Math Ph.D. program had a completion rate of 73%. From 2006 - 2010, our Math Ph.D. program had a completion rate of 83%. From 2011 - 2015, our Math Ph.D. program has 70% completion and 16% active students.The median time to degree for Math Ph.D. students is 5.7 years.

The Michigan Mathematics Department offers Master's programs in:

- Actuarial Mathematics
- Applied and Interdisciplinary Mathematics
- Mathematics
- Quantitative Finance and Risk Management

The Michigan Mathematics Department also offers an MLB Scholars Program which is an enhanced option for the M.S. degree in either Mathematics or Applied and Interdisciplinary Mathematics for eligible students to give them professional knowledge of pure or applied mathematics in order to prepare to them for continuing toward a Ph.D.
