Next Steps

Wondering what to do once you've been reactivated/reinstated? Follow these next steps!

Find your registration appointment time and backpack.  A registration appointment time has been requested for you - you do not need to request one yourself. Registration appointment times and backpacks are available once released by the Registrar’s Office. Please use the Registration Deadlines calendar to determine when backpacking opens.

Explore which classes to take. Use the LSA Course Guide to explore class options. You can also run an unofficial degree audit to get a sense of what requirements you have remaining.

Make an appointment with an academic advisor to discuss your re-entry plan. You may schedule through MyAdvising or through the links below:

For International Students - obtain a new visa. Contact the International Center and provide them with supporting financial documents and a copy of your reactivation email notice. Additional information may be found on their website.

Reactivate your uniqname and email account. Your previous uniqname and password should still be valid. If you have forgotten your uniqname or password please contact the ITS Service Center at 4HELP@umich.edu. Determine if you need a new MCard. MCards are valid for 5 years. Assuming your MCard hasn’t expired, it will be automatically activated at the start of your term of return. More information about MCards may be found here

Submit transcripts for courses taken elsewhere. If you completed course from another another college/university since you last enrolled at UM, have your transcripts sent to transcripts@umich.edu.

Secure Housing. Applications for university housing may be requested at housing@umich.edu. Include your name, UMID, date of birth, and mention that you are a readmitted student. Information regarding off-campus housing may be found here

Get connected with university support services. Reach out and connect with support services that can help with your transition back to UM.
