About
Mark Tucker is the Art Director and visual arts instructor for Lloyd Scholars for Writing and the Arts. Mark returned to U of M after working professionally in the US, Italy, and Germany for 15 years as a freelance artist, parade float designer, set designer, and scenic artist for museums, theater, ballet, opera, feature films, and TV. Mark teaches Art in Public Spaces, an LSWA course that produces public murals, community theater collaborations, and outdoor public art performances.
As the Founder of FestiFools and co-founder of FoolMoon, Mark and his students—assisted by hundreds of community volunteers—created many of the signature giant “puppets” and luminary sculptures for these two beloved public art spectacles from 2007-2022.
