Lecturer IV and Associate Director of the Sweetland Center for Writing
About
I have been on the faculty of the Sweetland Center for Writing since 2004, and in my current position as Associate Director since 2007, and I've been connected to LWSA since 2005 when I taught my first LHSP 125 class on visual rhetoric and collaborated with Mark Tucker's community arts class to create a 'zine that showcased our students' writing and visual art. I have long been interested in multimodal composition practices that conceive of writing as extending far beyond words on a page—to design, layout, images, sound, movement, and more. That interest provides a basis for my Writing in Motion course, which also gives me the opportunity to pursue my love of dance and movement composition, something I've enjoyed since I was a kid. At Sweetland, I've been involved with our minor in writing program, our peer writing consultant program, and our digital and social media writing curriculum—I'd love to talk to you about them, and about my class for LSWA!
