On Thursday, January 19, 2023, Professor John Valadez (at center) conducted an engaging and thought-provoking session with Mitchell Scholars (L to R) Lauren Freeman, Maggie Granata, Aedin Seck, Zora Kwasnik, Nora Pasche, and Lauren Horne about how to use documentary film as a tool for social justice. 



On the morning of Friday, January 27, 2023, LSA Opportunity Hub Alum Engagement Manager Päv (at center) conducted an orientation to the Hub for Mitchell Scholars (front, clockwise) Lauren Freeman, Alyssa Thomas, Aedin Seck, Nora Pasche, Zora Kwasnik, and Maggie Granata. Päv led the group on a tour of the Hub spaces, introduced LSA Engage and LSA Connect, and concluded by discusisng the invaluable career and coaching resources the Hub offers. 

Later that afternoon (L to R, below), Alyssa Thomas, Maggie Granata, Zora Kwasnik, Nora Pasche, and Aedin Seck met in NQ 6330 with Screenwriter Hillary Seitz (at center) for a special Mitchell Scholar session.

From the moment Director of Screenwriting Jim Burnstein welcomed and introduced Seitz, an engaging conversation about script coverage, the importance of securing a manager and an agent, and from where Seitz drew her "creative inspiration"  ensued.

On Friday, September 23, 2022, (top left, L to R) Aedin Seck, Lauren Freeman, Lauren Horne, Maggie Granata, Zora Kwasnik, Alyssa Thomas, and Nora Pasche gather for a group photo after meeting wtih Dean Curzan (at bottom right) during their welcome lunch with Department Chair Yeidy M. On Friday, September 30, 2022, Film Producer, Director, and Writer Peter Jaysen  (at top, middle) met with the FTVM Mitchell Scholars,  sharing personal stories and fielding questions about how to navigate the industry. Jaysen also provided advice on maintaining a work/life balance and offered guidance to the scholars on maximizing their appeal to recruiters.

On Friday, October 14, 2022, United Talent Agency Co-Founder Peter Benedek (at back, center) met with the FTVM Mitchell Scholars, and advanced screenwriters from FTVM 410 and FTVM 427.

Mr. Benedek opened the floor to student questions, leading an engaging conversation and providing advice how to navigate the industry. Benedek responded to such inquiries as "How do I 'make it' as a screenwriter? How do I secure a 'good' agent? and How do I best present myself to future employers?"

Mitchell Scholars (L to R) Zora Kwasnik, Nora Pasche, Aedin Seck, Maggie Granata, and Lauren Horne (not pictured) met with FTVM's Peter and Barbara Benedek Artist in Residence, Screenwriter Cindy Davis (at center) in the FTVM conference room on Monday, October 10, 2022. Davis shared personal stories about her screenwriting career - including a few "a-ha" moments - with enthusiasm and honesty, while providing practical screenwriting tips for students to consider as they enter the industry.

Mitchell Visiting Professor in Media Entertainment, Filmmaker Nancy Savoca (at center), in the FTVM conference room on Monday, November 14,  2022. During the session, Savoca talked about her work in the Indie Film Industry, fielding a wide array of questions and sharing invaluable advice. Savoca later commented that she was "thrilled to meet our future storytellers."
