Kessler Presidential Scholarship Fund copy

The Irene and Morris B. Kessler Presidential Scholarship Fund was established in 2007 and made possible by a gift to the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts from Judy and Fred Wilpon. Their gift created the largest scholarship cohort in LSA, which has grown to more than 150 students.

The Kessler Presidential Scholarship is named in honor of Judy Kessler Wilpon's immigrant parents, Irene and Morris B. Kessler. Despite struggling financially to put Judy and her sisters through college, they managed to fund their daughters to successfully graduate from LSA. Because of Judy's parents' understanding of the importance of education, and the Wilpons’ desire to create opportunities for others, they established the Kessler Scholarship to support students who otherwise would be unable to attend Michigan.

The Wilpons believe in building a strong group of campus leaders and scholars who will add to the Michigan campus and change the world after they leave Ann Arbor. All Kessler Presidential Scholars are selected based on their exemplary admissions applications, essays, recommendations, and records of achievement. Each student contributes something unique to this community and has the opportunity to participate in special events and programs that enrich their Michigan experience.
