ELLIPTIC CURVES, MODULAR CURVES AND TWISTS
Why do we study elliptic curves? How can we not! Elliptic curves are pure and applied, concrete and abstract, simple and complex and have been studied for many years by mathematicians. In this expository talk, we will start with an introduction of elliptic curves, modular curves and discuss why they are interesting objects to study. In the later part of the talk we will also discuss twists of smooth curves.

Main talk: 3-3:50pm
