In this talk, I will discuss various aspects of vector bundles on algebraic curves and more specifically, describe the Narasimhan-Seshadri theorem. Basic familiarity with Riemannian or complex geometry will be helpful but not assumed. The first part of the talk should be accessible to those currently taking Math 631. If time permits, I may outline the methods used in Donaldson's proof of the Narasimhan-Seshadri theorem. Speaker(s): Reebhu Bhattacharyya
