Student Homotopy Theory Seminar

Topological Hochschild homology and topological cyclic homology
Thursday, December 6, 2018
1:00-2:30 PM
2866 East Hall Map
I will describe the invariants known as topological Hochschild homology and topological cyclic homology, the homotopy theoretic, or derived, analogues of Hochschild homology and cyclic homology (no previous knowledge of Hochschild homology and cyclic homology will be assumed). I will describe them both from the viewpoint of Bokstedt-Hsiang-Madsen/Connes and Nikolaus-Scholze. I will describe their relation to K-theory via maps known as trace maps. Finally, I will describe how one can calculate the topological Hochschild homology of HF_p. Speaker(s): Montek Gill (University of Michigan)
