Assistant Prof. Swapnil Rai hosted and participated in SCMS podcast series on Talking Television in a time of crisis. The episode focused on Publics and explored the following questions:

During the time of the pandemic, when many of us have been cooped up in our private spaces, likely spending more time watching TV or online, what sorts of publics has TV created?

How have such TV publics both connected and disconnected us, particularly in these times of media bubbles, and with what effects?

What is the impact of widespread racial violence on the development of publics and their televisual mediation across national/global geographies and material/social locations?

Other participants included Hannah Hamad (Cardiff University), Charlotte Howell (Boston University), Rahul Mukherjee (University of Pennsylvania) and Mel Stanfill (University of Central Florida).
