Critical Conversations Spring 2022

 

 

The inaugural John H. Mitchell Critical Conversations Symposium "Leveling the Playing Field: Why Diversity Matters" occurred on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Rackham Amphitheatre. 

 

Our first John H. Mitchell Visiting Professor in Media Entertainment, TV writer and producer Janet Leahy, engaged in conversation with industry television writers and producers Lisa AlbertLisa McQuillan, and April Shih about the importance of having new voices in writers’ rooms and creating spaces for diverse stories on television. 

 

The symposium, moderated by Director of Screenwriting Jim Burnstein, included a welcome by Department Chair Yeidy M. Rivero, an introduction by Associate Dean for the Humanities Alexandra M. Stern, and a Q&A with the audience, featuring a wide array of insightful questions from FTVM students
