South Asian Studies

South Asia is a region with extraordinary cultural, religious, and linguistic diversity. Comprising the modern-day nations of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, it has a long and rich history spanning more than four thousand years. At present, the region is home to almost a quarter of the world’s population. ALC offers regular instruction in the following South Asian Languages: Bengali, Hindi, Punjabi, Sanskrit, and Urdu. And our culture courses run the gamut from entry-level courses that assume no prior knowledge of South Asia to advanced seminars that will let you put your South Asian cultural knowledge and language skills to use.
