How to Apply

If you're entering the University of Michigan with interests in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and/or pre-health, you are eligible to apply to the WISE RP. The Michigan Learning Communities Application is now open.

Students who have completed their first year in the WISE RP are also eligible to apply for a mentorship or program board position for their second year.

There are no additional costs to participate in the program.

2022-23 applicants will be asked the following questions; note this is just an example and each year, questions change.

  1. The Michigan Learning Communities are committed to building communities of engaged and enthusiastic students from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives. In what ways would you contribute to your Michigan Learning Community and bring a unique perspective or viewpoint? (suggested word count: 150-350 words)
  2. After reviewing the tenets (Exploring Identity in a STEM Context, Cultivating Critical Leadership, and Building STEM Self-Efficacy) of the WISE RP (as stated on the WISE RP WEBSITE), please discuss how two of the three core tenets resonate with you and connect to your personal experiences. Based upon this reflection and your research of our program, please identify and explain 1-2 ways in which the WISE RP can assist you in your growth and development on your STEM journey?

**At this time the WISE RP Application is now open. If you have any questions please contact the WISE RP at:

Students may only be admitted to one Michigan Learning Community.  Michigan Learning Communities review applications in the order of preference indicated by the student in their application

For the 2022-2023 Academic Year, the WISE RP is preparing to have an in residence experience. Incoming and returning members of the WISE RP are expected to live in Mosher-Jordan Residence Hall. This is subject to change based on university guidelines.

WISE RP will not honor roommate requests made via the housing application. Additionally, Michigan Learning Commmunity (MLC) applications take precedence over roommate requests. If admitted to an MLC, successful applicants' roommate requests may not be considered. Further, it is possible for one roommate to be admitted to WISE RP and the other declined.
