The Semester in Detroit program, conceived originally by U-M students and launched in 2009, brings undergraduate students from the Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint campuses together at the University of Michigan’s Detroit Center.
A few pleasant senior year surprises have ignited the December graduate’s interest in urban agriculture, Detroit history and social justice. Could a last-minute career pivot be on the horizon?
Semester in Detroit transforms U-M students through reciprocal relationships with the people, organizations, and neighborhoods of Detroit. By living, learning, and working in the city, our students engage with community leaders in transformative work - strengthening themselves as well as the wider region.
Semester in Detroit is funded by the College of LSA and administered through the Residential College.
