Enjoyment as Engagement: Sample Activities for the Language Classroom

This session will explore how enjoyable and even fun(!) activities can engage language learners at various levels. Specifically, this presentation will demonstrate sample activities for classroom warm-ups along with initiating, developmental, and continuing activities that foster collaboration, engagement, and enjoyment. 

About the discussant:

Julie Larson-Guenette (PhD, UW-Madison) is teaching faculty for the undergraduate German program in the department of German, Nordic and Slavic+ at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her current interests include instructed-SLA, learner variables and strategies relative to L2 literacy and the German-American experience. She is also the faculty director for the UW’s International Learning Community’s (ILC) Stockwerk Deutsch and a member of the UW-System Placement Testing Committee for German. Prior to returning to Madison, Julie has taught undergraduate and graduate level courses on language teaching methods, content literacy and linguistics.
