About
Andrei Boutyline's research focuses on culture, cognition, and computational methods. He examines the large-scale dynamics of cognitive representations including tastes, attitudes, stereotypes, and cultural schemas. He draws on network analysis, statistics, and computer science to develop novel methods for these investigations. His current research uses word embedding models to examine large-scale patterns of cultural change across the 20th century. He is especially interested in collaborating with graduate students who have a background in computer programming and/or data science and an interest in natural language processing. His work has appeared in the American Journal of Sociology, American Sociological Review, and Social Forces, among other venues.
