The following is a list of resources to help students maintain their language skills during the summer or semesters when they cannot take a language course.
Language Learning Materials
There are first and second year textbooks/workbooks/audio and video on reserve at the Language Resource Center (LRC) for use in the main center. Students can photocopy sections or exercises for their use.
Language Learning Programs
The LRC also subscribes to online language learning tools: Livemocha.com and Yabla.
Library Research Guides

Additional UM Library Collections

The Language Resource Center (LRC) subscribes to several different international channels that broadcast original programming from many different regions in the world. These streams can be viewed from any computer on the campus network.
The LRC has thousands of videos available to watch in the main center. View their online catalog.
Free Reading Collection
Students faculty and staff can check out the items from the LRC print collection for loans up to 2 weeks at a time.
The Library subscribes to newspapers from around the world, which are available online at Library PressDisplay.
In addition to the Language Resource Center (LRC) managed conversation partner online bulletin board, there are other online tools to connect with language speakers from all over the world to practice communicating in a foreign language.

Tutors and Translators
The Spanish Club and Le Comité Francophone offer free drop-in tutoring at the Language Resource Center (located on the lower level of North Quad). You can find the current hours for free French and Spanish peer tutoring on the RLL language club page.
The Language Resource Center hosts a database of tutors and conversation partners on their website.

Dennis Pollard - Ph.D. Coordinator of Spanish 277 and instructor of 289 - Intoduction to Spanish to English Translation.
Translating: I have done hundreds of Spanish to English and English to Spanish translations. These include academic, medical, and civil documents of various types, including transcripts; diplomas; birth, death, and marriage certificates; local, state, and federal forms; newsletters, and contracts.
Translation Fees: 15 cents per word in the translation. I provide both a Word docx. and a .pdf, plus a translation certificate, if requested.
Rashmi Rama - I am a Spanish lecturer in the Romance Language Department since 2005. I have also taught Spanish in other institutions in Michigan and California for several years. I have lived in Spain and taught English in México and in Puerto Rico.
