On the GIEU Vietnam program, students will encounter topics relevant to most developing nations— public health infrastructure, economic inequality, and the effects of war. In Ho Chi Minh City students will volunteer within 4 local community organizations: Friends for Street Children, Thao Dan, Smile Group HIV-Positive Support Group, and Hong An Center for Disabled People. Through participation, students will gain first-hand inside knowledge from daily work experience, a better understanding of how a particular organization operates structurally, and how it provides effective outreach to serve its local community.
