In order to ensure your health, safety and security while abroad, the College of LSA requires you to submit certain information related to your upcoming travel abroad. This information will only be used in the event of an emergency, critical incident or other urgent matter while you are abroad. Please note that your funding will not be disbursed and/or travel cannot be approved until all of the requirements are completed.
The required steps are listed below (and in the chart) and should not take more than 5 to 10 minutes to complete.
1. REGISTER your travel in the UM Travel Registry
2. PURCHASE UM's Travel Health Insurance (GeoBlue)
3. UPLOAD a copy of your GeoBlue card by returning to MCompass and logging in
4. COMPLETE the "Trip Emergency Contact & How to Find Me" Questionnaire in MCompass
5. OBTAIN letter of academic necessity from a faculty member
6. SUBMIT for a safety plan (all international locations are now UM warning/restriction destinations)
You MUST receive approval prior to departure. For more information on this requirement, please visit the Global Michigan website.
Plans should be submitted at least 3 weeks prior to departure.
Once the above items have been completed, the LSATravel office will verify and then inform your department that the requirements have been completed. This process can take up to 2 business days.
