In order to ensure your health, safety and security while abroad, the College of LSA requires you to submit certain information related to your upcoming travel abroad. This information will only be used in the event of an emergency, critical incident or other urgent matter while you are abroad.

The required steps are listed below and should not take more than 5 to 10 minutes to complete:

  1. REGISTER your travel in UM's Faculty / Staff Registry
  2. INFORM your department's Chief Administrator of your travel plans

 

**Note: Faculty and staff are covered by the University's blanket travel health insurance policy when on University-related Travel

Who Falls Under This Policy?

LSA Faculty & Staff

LSA Faculty & Staff must adhere to the additional requirements listed in the LSA International Travel Policy if their travel meets any of the criteria of the definition of UMRT listed below:

  1. LSA faculty or staff travel abroad within the context of their job responsibilities.
  2. LSA faculty or staff travel with students abroad
  3. LSA faculty use research funding for travel that is managed through an LSA unit.
    • These funds may be via sponsored research projects, recruitment/retention funds, internal grants, or discretionary research accounts.
  4. LSA faculty/staff are invited to give a talk or attend an event and the travel is paid for by the institution extending the invitation.

Non-LSA Faculty & Staff

Non-LSA students, staff and faculty are required to comply with the LSA International Travel Policy if they:

  • receive funding from an LSA unit or department
  • will travel on an experience or program that is managed by an LSA unit
