- "Although I originally felt uncertain about the research position I ended up with, since it was a microbiology lab and I wanted to do biomedical engineering, I was given so much support and hands-on experience that I fell in love with microbiology and ended up changing my major to study it full time! The things that I learned in the lab gave me confidence in many of my classes, since my supervisor taught me a lot of key science concepts along with the research. Overall, it was very satisfying."
- "I had no expectations since I did not know what the research process was like or what it entailed, so the MRADS was critical in giving me overviews of different things (project selection, poster creation, etc.) before those things became relevant to my life."
- "The community supported me through the transition into college. It made me believe that I belong and can succeed in this university. Most of the people I met in MRADS are still my best friends."
- "As someone who is more introverted, MRADS provided a smaller community within Michigan that I felt more comfortable meeting and getting to know people in. Both the freshmen and sophomores were so friendly and it was nice to always have peer mentor events to attend without having to leave the dorm."
- "MRADS is a community where you can not only gain a lot of valuable leadership and professional skills, but it gives you the opportunity to meet people who are also likely driven to do hard work and honestly might become some of your best friends. The professional research you do is invaluable... and will teach you so much about what you want from a future career. MRADS is a once in a lifetime experience and you'd be hard pressed to find a better organization."
- "MRADS is an eye-opening chance to see what research is like first hand, in every field imaginable. There's a research opportunity that's right for everyone, and MRADS helps connect you to that project. You'll be surrounded by other first years taking that journey, along with second years that have seen what it’s like already, and they'll become like a family for you. You'll share your trials and tribulations together and it'll help prepare you for the rest of college and beyond."
