About
What is your advising philosophy?
As an Academic Advisor, I hope to be an ally who cultivates a place where students feel they belong here at the University of Michigan and are proud of who they are (their name, body shape and size, disability, identity, story, academic and personal accomplishments, etc). Whether a student has a lot to share or not, I am here to listen, eager to learn about what makes students come alive, the obstacles they encounter, and their dreams and visions after graduation. With the support of my team at Newnan and various U-M departments and units, I envision working alongside students to help them thrive (mentally and academically) in their chosen field, address any adversities they may encounter, and prepare them for their future endeavors (graduate or professional programs).
What was your path to Newnan?
Though I am passionate about working with students, I had not thought about becoming an academic advisor until two of my academic advisors encouraged me to work at Newnan. Having already become familiar with the University of Michigan and been an LS&A student, I felt Newnan was the best place to begin my advising career.
Why did you join Newnan?
While reflecting on my experience as an undergraduate at the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, I realized the vast amount of opportunities and lifelong friendships that were afforded to me. Therefore, I aim to provide future LSA students with those same aspects that I have become so grateful for and ensure that they are receiving the support they need to be successful in their college endeavors.
Class you loved and why?
I enjoyed every class I took because it gave me the opportunity to learn new topics, collaborate with people from various fields and backgrounds, and challenged me to analyze policies, stories, or situations from every perspective.
