Middle school students in the Kelsey Museum galleries.

Calling all young demigods and mythology enthusiasts! The Kelsey Museum of Archaeology’s Education Department is excited to announce the inaugural Camp Kelsey—a weeklong summer adventure focusing on Greek and Roman mythology. Scheduled for June 24–28, 2024, Camp Kelsey is perfect for outgoing 5th through 7th graders who have a passion for the Percy Jackson series and a curiosity about the ancient stories that inspired them.

At the heart of Camp Kelsey are daily writing workshops, guided by museum educators and local specialists, designed to help each student craft their very own myth. Campers will also embark on field trips around Ann Arbor, engage in hands-on crafts and activities, meet with U-M faculty in archaeology and anthropology, and take behind-the-scenes tours at the Kelsey Museum. The week will conclude with a performance in which these young authors present their freshly minted myths to an audience of parents and peers.

Space for Camp Kelsey is limited to 15 attendees, with discounted pricing available for museum members. Learn more here.
