Planning Your Visit

The Kelsey Is Open to All Audiences

The Kelsey Museum is open to all audiences during our regular visiting hours. When arriving at the museum, please enter through the Maynard Street entrance. (Click here for information about parking.)

Planning Your Visit

As of May 2023, museum visitors are no longer required to complete the ResponsiBLUE health screening before arrival but should postpone their visit if they are feeling unwell. Masks are not required in most indoor spaces per University of Michigan guidelines, including in the Kelsey Museum’s galleries, though any visitor who prefers to wear one is welcome to do so.

Second-Floor Construction

Beginning on Monday, April 29, the Roman Provinces and Special Exhibitions galleries, located on the second floor of the Kelsey Museum, will be closed for construction. This project will remove part of the wall that currently separates these two sections to create a walk-through—a change that will help pave the way for the design and installation of our permanent Crossroads of Culture gallery.

Work is expected to be completed by Wednesday, May 22. The rest of the second floor remains open to visitors during this period, as does the entire first floor. We appreciate your patience as we make this important change to our gallery layout.

In the Museum

  • Leave all large bags, backpacks, and umbrellas in the coatroom.
  • The gift shop remains closed.
  • You are welcome to explore our artifact drawers, but please do not touch cases, pedestals, or artifacts.
