Camp Kelsey

Are you obsessed with Percy Jackson and the Olympians? Want to learn more about Greek mythology? Have you ever wondered what’s in the Kelsey Museum’s basement?

Join us for a weeklong adventure this summer at Camp Kelsey! Geared toward outgoing 5th through 7th graders, our first-ever Camp Kelsey will spend a week focusing on mythology. Intended as a writing camp for middle schoolers and led by museum educators, Camp Kelsey will draw inspiration from our Greek and Roman galleries—in addition to Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson series—to facilitate student myth creation. We will take field trips to various locations in Ann Arbor and meet with various U-M faculty members to learn about their careers in archaeology and anthropology. We will also take collections tours and enjoy other behind-the-scenes experiences at the Kelsey Museum. The week will culminate in a final performance, where campers can present their very own myth in front of an audience of parents and peers!
