Caroline Roberts joined the Kelsey Museum as a conservator in 2014. Prior to this, Carrie worked as a conservation fellow at the Kelsey, at the J. Paul Getty Museum, and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She holds a Master of Science in art conservation from the University of Delaware and is a professional associate of the American Institute for Conservation (AIC). Carrie’s interests include the conservation of archaeological materials, the preservation and analysis of archaeological stone, and the technical study of ancient color. Her conservation fieldwork experience includes seasons in Turkey, Sicily, Sudan, and Egypt. Carrie has lectured about conservation ethics and practice for U-M classes, supervised Michigan undergraduates interested in archaeological conservation, and co-curated a student-focused special exhibition about ancient color. She is currently serving as a mentor for the AIC’s ECPN-HBCU mentorship program.
