We welcome and encourage you to meet with your advisor to review your plan prior to taking a class elsewhere.
You will need to check with the other school's admissions office and follow their procedures and deadlines. Note that some schools may refer to you as a guest or visiting student. If you will be using the Michigan Uniform Guest Application, Part II of the application is completed by the U-M Registrar's Office. Take your completed application to the Registrar's Office for them to certify and mail. Their office is located at 2200 Student Activities Building. You can also email the form to them at firstname.lastname@example.org, and for security purposes when doing so, it's recommended that you NOT put your social security number on the form until you get the form returned to you. International students can go to the International Center website for more information.
Departmental transfer courses (at the 100, 200, or 300 level) in these areas will automatically fall into the appropriate distribution requirement - no exceptions need to be entered or processed. This is only vaild with departmental credits, not courses that transfer in as direct equivalents to U-M courses. Any credit transferred in as a department not listed on the Distribution page must be reviewed by an academic advisor.
The ongoing effects of COVID-19 on the teaching and learning environment at U-M and other universities require continued adjustments in our LSA transfer credit policy for courses taken at other institutions from the 2020-2021 academic year (Fall 2020, Winter 2021, Spring 2021, and Summer 2021) and beyond. As we acknowledge the flexibility that is needed during this unusual time, beginning September 2020, the following transfer credit policies will apply to all courses taken and transferred into LSA:
All other LSA Transfer and Residency Policies will still apply.
