PELLSTON, Mich. — Winter has arrived in northern Michigan, and conditions are prime to get outside and glide through snowy trails on cross-country skis.

The University of Michigan Biological Station along Douglas Lake has several miles of trails open to the public for cross-country skiing throughout the more than 10,000-acre research and teaching campus.

Guests may also walk the trails, but UMBS requests they not walk or snowshoe in the ski tracks. Please help maintain the ski trails.

“Several inches of fresh snow fell in the past two days and another storm is expected this weekend,” UMBS Research Coordinator Helen Habicht said on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024. “See you on the trails!”
