The Kelsey Museum mourns the loss of Richard Redding, who passed away on May 22, 2023. A research scientist at the Kelsey since 2012, Richard was a significant figure in the archaeological community. The impact of his mentorship, teaching, and research is profound and far-reaching. We extend our deepest condolences to his loved ones.

Dear Friends, Family, and Colleagues,
We would like to thank you for your concern, care, and connection over the last few weeks. We have both been humbled by the outpouring of love and support and touched by the stories of how much he meant to so many people. We know that many of you are hoping to come together to celebrate Richard’s life and legacy, and we are planning to hold a memorial in Ann Arbor early next year. We will be in touch to share the details when we have them.
In the meantime, we would like to share information about a scholarship that has been endowed in Richard’s name. While his loss is hard to accept, we have been comforted to hear the amazing things that have been written about him and his legacy.
