In celebration of the upcoming Bicentennial exhibition, Excavating Archaeology at the University of Michigan, 1817‐2017, the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology and the University of Michigan Museum of Anthropological Archaeology (UMMAA) will be counting down the days until the exhibition opening on October 18, 2017.

The Kelsey Museum will count down 200 facts about the most important people, places, events, and Kelsey Museum artifacts on Twitter and Facebook. Follow along with #KMA200 to watch the history of the Kelsey Museum and our collections unfold.

At UMMAA’s website each entry will focus on one of the millions of artifacts in the Museum's collections. The project is a small window on the remarkable archaeological and ethnographic collections and rich legacy of research and teaching at the UMMAA.

After the last post, an exhibition on two centuries of archaeology at U-M opens at the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology. Visit the exhibit—a joint project of the Kelsey Museum and the UMMAA—from October 18, 2017 to May 27, 2018.
