“Her Kitchen is the World: Black Women and the Culture of Soul Food”
Her Kitchen is The World: Black Women and The Culture of Soul Food analyzes representations of Black women and domestic space in African American food life from the Progressive Era to present. It argues that Black women's kitchen practices are spatial strategies for navigating the often-depoliticized concept of soul food, marking contested terrain of class, nutrition, and racial representation.
