About
Megan Sapnar Ankerson's research and teaching interests involve new media and visual culture, web history, software studies, and media aesthetics. Her current book project historicizes the development of a commercial web design industry during the 1990s dot-com bubble by mapping formal shifts in the web's visual style and dominant discourses of "quality" design to the changing modes of production, financing, and industrial logics that cohered around the notion of a New Economy. The challenges involved in accessing and preserving examples of the web's early popular and commercial cultural forms has equally shaped her interest in web archiving and web historiography.
