About
Enrica Bridgewater received her B.S. in Psychology from Brooklyn College CUNY. Most of her undergraduate research focused on minority youth development and culminated in an honors thesis that examined the relationship between age, self-esteem, and emotion regulation in middle and high school students.
Her current research interests are centered on media representations of women and BIPOC as well as the media's role in shaping the identities of children, young people, and emerging adults, and Hollywood as a cultural institution. Specifically, what impact does being exposed to dignified portrayals on TV/film have on historically excluded groups?
When not in PhD land, Enrica enjoys musical theatre and may or may not have listened to the Hamilton soundtrack a million times (spoiler: she has). She also launched a blog in July 2020 called A First-Gen's Guide to Grad School: How to Get in, Survive, and Thrive to help other first-gen students on their journey to graduate school.
