Iride Tomazic's research is focused on assessing the impacts of metallurgy on individuals and communities by tracking changes over time in both settlement and mortuary records from the Copper Age to the Bronze Age in the Southern Carpathian Basin and the Balkans. She has conducted extensive fieldwork (research and CRM) in continental Europe, the UK, and Peru.
Research Interests: Copper Age, Bronze Age, mortuary archaeology, bioarchaeology (activity patterns, paleopathology), metallurgy, role theory, trace element, toxicology, environmental contamination, complex societies in Europe, Balkans area, and Carpathian Basin
