Vanessa Diaz, an anthropology alumna, was awarded the 2022 SAW Book Award for her book, Manufacturing Celebrity: Latino Paparazzi and Women Reporters in Hollywood, by the Society for the Anthropology of Work (SAW). In addition to the SAW award, Diaz's book received an Honorable Mention for the book award for the Latin American Studies Association's (LASA) Latino Studies Section. Diaz was also awarded the 2022 Association for Latina/o and Latinx Anthropologists (ALLA) Book Award.
Vanessa Diaz received her PhD from the Department of Anthropology in 2015. She is an Assistant Professor of Chicana/o and Latina/o Studies at Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts at the Loyal Marymount University.
