The Huron Valley Chapter of the Michigan Archaeological Society presents an online lecture by James R. Paquette, author of The Find of a Thousand Lifetimes: The Story of the Gorto Site Discovery, Thursday, January 18, 7:30 p.m.-9 p.m.
This presentation will describe the critically important Gorto Site and then focus on the results of the Silver Lake Reservoir archaeological survey project that Paquette undertook in 1987-1988, continuing during 2002 through 2008, when low water levels in the basin allowed for additional surface reconnaissance along the exposed shoreline of the original lake. This program documents some of the most exciting and important archaeological discoveries ever made by Paquette in his search for the elusive proof that Ice Age Paleo-Indian families once lived in the central Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
