Students who are enrolled in Duo two-factor authentication may need to use their cell phones to prove their identity before they can log in to Canvas. This is especially important to remember when holding in-class Canvas Quizzes because students will need to have their phones available to authenticate weblogin on a second device. If you are using the LockDown Browser for Canvas Quizzes, students will need to authenticate on a second device every time they log in to Canvas via the LockDown Browser.
Fortunately, there is an easy workaround for this. Instructors can password protect a Canvas Quiz. After students have logged into Canvas, phones can be put away. Then the instructor can announce the password, and students can begin the exam.
