by Joe Bauer, Digital Scholarship Research Consultant

Building upon the success of the Digital Scholarship Pilot, LSA Technology Services is seeking scholars to collaborate with to create sustainable websites that meet the scholastic, preservation, and accessibility needs of the research projects. Do you want to build a digital archive? Tell a story online? Use digital media to explore rhetoric? Not sure where to turn? Who can host it? Who can create it? Would a digital team help you at this stage?

The LSA Technology Services Digital Project Partnership provides a scholar with a project team for up to six months worth of expert consulting and development, along with the hosting infrastructure required to sustain it. Details about the project partnerships are outlined below, and are also available on the application website. Please share your ideas for a digital project by applying before June 5th. All of those who apply will be provided information about how to set up initial consultations and connected with resources on or off campus.

Accepted projects will first work with Digital Scholarship experts to conceptualize, scope, and plan the project and identify appropriate resources so it aligns with your research goals, desired outcomes, and required deliverables. Then, a team of developers, designers, or systems administrators (depending on your project) will be formed to work with you. A Digital Scholarship Research Consultant will be assigned to you and your project for the duration of the project and will act as project leader and your single point of contact. Depending on the nature of the accepted projects, our cross-campus support partners, such as U-M Library, may also get involved for support and consulting.

Description:

Will your research project need a website? Not sure where to turn? Who can host it? Who can create it? Would a digital team help you at this stage? Building upon the success of the Digital Scholarship Pilot, LSA Technology Services is seeking two scholars to collaborate with for the purposes of creating sustainable websites that meet the scholastic, preservation, and accessibility needs of researchers and their research projects.

Resources Available:

In-kind contributions of consulting, development, and systems administration labor in the range of 50 to 100 person hours and platform hosting on LSA Technology Services supported infrastructures for the purposes of creating a sustainable website that meets the scholastic, preservation, and accessibility needs of your research project. Depending on the nature of the accepted projects, our cross-campus support partners, such as U-M Library, may also get involved for support and consulting. These resources are meant for a single digital scholarship project. Ongoing website hosting and maintenance will be provided through LSA Technology Services website services and support services.

Timeline:

The deadline to submit a proposal is June 5th, 2020. Awards will be announced by June 19th. Projects will have 6 months from acceptance to make use of the awarded resources.

A Digital Scholarship Research Consultant will be assigned to you and your project for the duration of the project and will act as project leader and your single point of contact.
