Hazelette Crosby-Robinson Robinson served as a volunteer at Scott Regional Correctional Facility in Plymouth Michigan for 15 years beginning in the mid-1990’s while working in the Community Mental Health System in Washtenaw County. Hazelette worked for Washtenaw County for 25 years until retiring. In 2006, she decided to pursue her clinical degree. In 2008, she earned her degree in Management of Human Services, Communities and Social Systems w/an Interpersonal Practice Minor from the University of Michigan School of Social Work-Ann Arbor and graduated in April 2008
Hazelette became a member of the Washtenaw Michigan Prisoner Reentry Initiative in 2008. In 2009 Hazelette left the steering team for approximately a year and a half to facilitate a weekly Trauma Group for returning women prisoners using the evidence-based Seeking Safety (Lisa Najavits) Curriculum. Hazelette served as the President of the UMSSW Alumni Board of Governors and Chair of the Alumni Relations Committee for six years post-graduation.
Hazelette has an extensive career working with underserved, at-risk populations. She worked at Alternatives for Girls as a Resource Room Assistant and at Hope Against Trafficking as Program Director. Hazelette currently serves as the President of the Michigan Council on Crime and Delinquency Board of Directors and as a Civil Service Commissioner for the Township where she resides.
