Saturday Sampler Tour | Coins

Saturday, July 7, 2018
2:00-3:00 PM
Kelsey Museum of Archaeology Map
Whether made of humble bronze or shining gold, ancient coins are an important tool in the archaeologist's and art historian's quest for understanding the past. On this tour, we take a look at some famous coin types including Athenian owl tetradrachms, famous figures on coins including Cleopatra VII, coin hoards, and the ritual use of coins.

Enhanced photographs of coins on the tour and magnifying glasses will be available to examine the details of the coins more closely.

Saturday Sampler tours are free and open to all visitors. If you are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation to attend this tour, please contact the education office (734-647-4167) at least two weeks in advance. We ask for advance notice as some accommodations may require more time for the University to arrange.
