"A personal look at seven sites from first excavated to most recent. I deal with the impact of each new discovery seeming to increase the evidential basis for earlier occupations and with the strident efforts of critics to deny each new claim. I end with a new model which accounts for most of the available evidence and suggest some ways of testing the implications of this model."
