Where did you transfer from? Northwestern
Why did you choose to transfer to the University of Michigan? I chose to transfer to the University of Michigan because of how welcoming and accepting it was. I come from a small college and small town, so I feel welcome and like I have a place in the community.
Based on your personal experience, what is the one thing you want to tell new transfer students? If you are scared because it is a big school and a big change, remember it's not as scary as you think – especially with some support.
How did you make friends and meet other students on campus? I made friends on campus through talking to the people in my classes and in my work environment, as well as going to community events and festivals and just bumping into people.
What is your favorite part about being an LSA transfer student? Having a community. Yes, I belong to the university, but I feel as though out of all the schools LSA has the best community, especially for transfer students. It makes it feel a little smaller in the transfer to a huge university as well.
What do you know now that you wished you knew before transferring to the University of Michigan? I would say put yourself out there and talk to people even if you don’t know them. The worst that's going to happen is you won't see them again, but it could also lead to a new best friend.
Why did you choose your specific major(s)? My goal in life is to be a lawyer. That is the reason I chose my sub-major. As for my major, I chose sociology because this helps you to understand people and relationships, and I think that is going to be really helpful when working with people in stressful situations.
