Since 1968, the National Academy of Public Administration has recognized outstanding contributions to the literature of public administration through presentation of the Louis Brownlow Book Award. The Award recognizes outstanding contributions on topics of wide contemporary interest to practitioners and scholars in the field of public administration.

The 2020 Louis Brownlow Book Award will be presented to Rachel Augustine Potter (PhD, U-M Political Science, 2014) for Bending the Rules: Procedural Politicking in the Bureaucracy.

Rachel A. Potter is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Politics at the University of Virginia where she studies American political institutions, with a focus on the bureaucracy and rulemaking.
