Professor of Political Science and Edie N. Goldenberg Endowed Director for the Michigan in Washington Program, Jenna Bednar, has been chosen as this year's winner of the Daniel Elazar Distinguished Federalism Scholar Award. This award is given by the Federalism and Intergovernmental Relations section of the American Political Science Association. It recognizes Jenna's "distinguished scholarly contributions to the study of federalism and intergovernmental relations." (Of course, last year she won the section's most enduring book award!).

Professor Bednar researches the analysis of institutions, focusing on the theoretical underpinnings of the stability of federal states. Her most recent book,The Robust Federation demonstrates how complementary institutions maintain and adjust the distribution of authority between national and state governments.
