Charles Shipan, professor of political science, has won the Midwest Political Science Association's (MPSA) Herbert Simon Award. The award honors significant contributions to the scientific study of bureaucracy. Charles will receive the award and deliver the Herbert Simon Award Lecture at the April 2018 MPSA meeting in Chicago.

Shipan is the co-author (with John Huber) of Deliberate Discretion? The Institutional Foundations of Bureaucratic Autonomy, which received the Richard F. Fenno Prize, the William Riker Award, and the Gregory Luebbert Award from the American Political Science Association.
